Under the titel “The Researching Orchestra” I will chair a session at the Classical:NEXT conference on May 17, 2018 in Rotterdam. I will talk about the steps the South Netherlands Philharmonic has taken to prepare for renewal and innovation.
It is also the first opportunity to meet Prof. Peter Peters, the first professor for Innovation of Classical Music at the MCICM in his new function. As a member of this session’s panel Peter will give an overview over his plans with the institute for the coming years.
The session will also give an insight into the Artful Participation Project that has already started as part of the MCICM’s activities under the leadership of Peter Peters. One of the members of that project’s team, Phd candidate Veerle Spronck will talk about ownership issues within the South Netherlands Philharmonic. Veerle has recently won the Max van der Kamp national price for the best thesis of the year 2017 with her thesis Between Art and Academia. A Study of the Practice of Third Cycle Artistic Research.
Hope to see many of you there!
