The search procedure for the first professor to lead the Maastricht Center for the Innovation of Classical Music was succesful: Dr. Peter Peters will become the first personality to lead the institute as Distinguished University Professor for Innovation in Classical Music from september 1st, 2018 onwards.
My warmest congretulations to Peter. This is an excellent choice and I am convinced that Peter is exactly the right person to lead the MCICM in the years to come!
Peter (1960, Amsterdam) is a sociologist by training (with philosophy of science, economics and musicology as MA minors). He has published on music, time, mobility and travel in technological cultures. His current research is concerned with (1) the production of knowledge in artistic practices, and (2) the innovation of musical cultures. He teaches in the Arts and Culture BA and the European Studies BA, as well as in the MA programs Arts, Literature and Society, and Cultures of Arts, Science and Technology (Research) at the Maastricht University.
More information about the Institute and Prof. Peters can be found on the MCICM’s website. Also the press-release can be found there.
